This article discusses the theoretical and methodological foundations for improving the strategic
management in the wine industry in Ukraine. Due to the mistakes that were made in the agrarian policy of
Ukraine, highly profitable wine industry has become a low-income and even loss-making industry, so there is
a chance to restore the industry trough the introduction of strategic management and building new primary
Since the basis of the development of the strategy is a strategic analysis, it was examined the impact
of macro factors on the strategic development such as political, economic, social and technological. To determine
the threats and opportunities for the wine industry is made up the strategic matrix of PEST-analysis.
There was made an analysis of the state and development of viticulture and winemaking abroad.
The conclusion about the need for improvement and development of these industries in Ukraine. The availability
of objective conditions dictate the need to increase production and improve the quality of domestic
wines, optimize the structure of consumption of alcoholic beverages, develop and implement competitiveness
capable of innovative technologies, integration into the global wine market.
