Abstract

The article defines the essence and preconditions of clusters formation. The concept of the agri-food

cluster as a multidimensional system related forms of organization activities, integrated with the objective of

resolving interlinked problems. Given the specific characteristics of clusters and their main differences from

traditional forms of cooperation and integration. Noted that the agri-food clusters can become one of the

tools to create the most efficient production to provide the population with food and sustainable agri-food

sector development of the regions. The accented attention that the formation of the region\'s growth points

and industries, the multipliers will contribute to the creation of a releaser for development of economy and

solution of social and environmental problems. The analysis of conceptual approaches to the formation and

development of clusters. It identifies basic advantages for each group of cluster members. Attention is ac-
cented on expediency of creation and functioning of clusters in the agri-food sphere of the southern region.

Noted, that the Southern region includes three areas of the south of Ukraine – Nikolayev, Odessa and Kher-
son. The conclusion is made about the great scientific potential of the southern region. The possibilities of

the agri-food sector development in the southern region using the SWOT-analysis as a strategic planning

instrument. The results of the SWOT-analysis positively characterize the opportunities for sustainable devel-
opment of agricultural sphere of the region based on the cluster approach.
